On This Day: Winnie The Pooh Day

An adorable, honey-loving, bear name Winnie The Pooh has taught children lessons and entertained us for nearly 85 years.  The story developed courtesy of author A.A. Milne’s son.  The name Winnie-the-Pooh originated from a black bear at the London zoo named “Winnie” and a swan named “Pooh” that Milne’s son discovered during a family vacation.  By the way, Milne’s son’s name is “Christopher Robin”.  Does the name ring a bell? The hyphens in the name were dropped when Walt Disney converted the Pooh stories into a series.

Better yet, who knew that Winnie the Pooh developed some of the cheesiest love quotes of all time:

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever”
“Promise me you’ll never forget me because if I thought you would I’d never leave.”
