On This Day: Look Alike Day

Katy Perry Look alikeWe’re not going to recognize the obvious holiday celebrated by all those potheads out there.  Several sources referenced 4/20 as a “counter-cultural holiday involving consumption of cannabis”.  Instead, we chose to recognize a holiday that may be the result of some 4/20-ers mistaking identities!  April 20th is Look Alike Day.  We’ve all got a doppelganger (see Cassius‘ to the right).  Have you ever chased someone down or hollered at a person only to find out you mistook them for someone else?  If you find yourself doing that today, don’t be too hard on yourself.  Celebrate Look Alike Day and embrace the beauty of another person on this planning that happens to be nearly as good-looking as you!

On This Day: National Hanging Out Day

National Hanging Out DayOur friends in MA, ME, and WI may have confused yesterday’s Patriot’s Day celebration with April 19th’s National Hanging Out Day. Contrary to what it sounds, today is not dedicated to “straight chillin'”. The holiday actually pertains to saving money and energy conservation. “Hanging out” refers to utilizing a clothesline for laundry, rather than a more common hot air dryer. Had you fooled there, didn’t we? Nonetheless, we still expect you to take part in this meaningful holiday. The smell of fresh air never hurt laundry. Air dry that #$%^#!

But if you want to give your Huffy a special day you can do that too!

That Sucks DayYou didn’t miss much yesterday.  It was National D.A.R.E. Day, and unless you celebrate Ex Spouse Day, it was a pretty boring day.  Today, on the other hand, is action packed!  April 15th is traditionally tax day, but a number of other holidays share this date.  One of the best is That Sucks Day.  We live in a world full of cynics and pessimists, so That Sucks Day is a perfect holiday for them to celebrate.  Let them have one day that allows them to be completely miserable.  It’s not THAT bad.  But don’t tell them that!

A Few Good MenWe wonder who decided to make this day a holiday? Perhaps, A LAWYER!  We can’t think of any reason why someone would not want to be nice to the attorneys out there.  Behind every good man is a great attorney.  Behind every ambulance is another attorney.  Behind every closed door is an attorney reviewing documents.  And there are probably several attorneys reading this right now!

On This Day: National All Is Ours Day

SharingWhat if we had to share everything in the world?  Let’s say there is no such thing as personal property.  Nobody owns nicer items than the next person.  Before you laugh and think of the chaos that would ensue, imagine how different life would be if we all started on a level playing field.  How would you share certain items?  How do you decided who gets nicer products versus who gets the crappy ones?  April 8th raises so many questions.  We may not be ready for this!  At the very least it will help you day dream throughout the day while you’re thinking about it and before you know it the weekend will be here!
